September Her

After my two weeks trip to Korea, I got back to catch up with the girl that I missed the most during my visit and that is no other than my beautiful- Kagna! The time I stepped my feet on a taxi at Sinchon, the great memories of her walking with me holding each other, laughing about whatever stories we talked about with a big shopping bag from that mart probably just some mushroom and shrimps for our dinner Tumyum? or maybe just a uniqlo shirt that we got on sales? Giggling with endless stories about life in general, family, study, friends, or just simply enjoying each other company. And then the image of that one night, me and her with a group of our Sogang families crossing that street light at Sinchon exit 1 pointing out to that Naturr ice-cream store, introducing the neighborhood to our guests who came from other province of South Korea, and wrapped up a night at the house packed with so many Cambodian and  endless conversation up till morning. It was, after all, the great memories to remember for life.

When life isn’t about anything with our decision alone, to have someone stay with you no matter what is not easy either. This is why I am so grateful that (like many of my friends who are not mentioned here) one day I met her and, she decided to stay. We have been through so many things together but with her openness and caring attitude, together we made this friendship stronger. So today, we met again and I secretly smiled because I missed her. I couldn’t pluck up my courage to express the feeling with words but I was indeed happy. While she talked about her life in general, I was filled with happiness because she is doing great, work, life, family…all great! And yes, of course, I do not need to worry about her because with her personality and willing to work hard, she can success in everything she chooses. September is approaching and September called “Kagna” in Cambodian language and every start of September, I always remind myself of how lucky I am to have a friend like her!

Oops! Forgot that now it’s still August! ^^

5th WSK ~ Korean Archery and Hwaseong Fortress at Suwon City, Korea

Yay! Finally, 5 batch WSK 1st Camp finally arrive!
I can meet diverse nationality blog lovers~ and we are going on a tour to Suwon together ^^

1st group picture @Yeonmudae

This 5th generation has around 50 people with 20 nationalities. Among these, there are 2 Cambodians. The other members seems to speak Korean very well except me.  ㅠㅠ. I’m so envy! Since the trip was on weekday, some members couldn’t manage to join and some managed to join a bit late. WSK has organized a tour to Suwon city, the city that just near Seoul which took around 30 mins. We kinda have a full schedule for a 2 days and 1 night trip in which I need to separate my post into many part.  However, first let me introduce you to Suwon city.

Suwon is being famous due to the existence in various forms throughout Korea’s history. Suwon is the only remaining completely walled city in South Korea.  Hwaseong Fortress is the most scientific of all fortress walls in Korea, its structures are elaborately arranged, assuming graceful and majestic aspects. Beside the Hwaseong Fortress, there are many attractive tourism sites as well. Click here for further reading regarding Suwon City.

Back to our trip, once we arrived in Suwon, we learn how to use Korean Traditonal Archery. On the very green field (it’s s totally green^^)while the sun was shining beautifully. We stepped on Suwon land and enjoying the view. The Archery is not as easy as we have seen on TV. Though, it totally fun to give yourself a try! Highly recommended!!! ^____^

The first time I tried archery! 90% of us couldn’t  shoot the target at all

but come on, it’s our first time. lolz:)

The trip is amazing and it took less than an hour to reach Suwon by bus from Seoul, I was so nervous that I’m gonna have car motion sickness again, but just a blink of an eye I reached there. After the archery we got on the sweet red trolley and   stroll around the whole city. It’s really worth the summer! Besides, at Suwon, we can try on lots of things, like dress in Hanbok, learn Korean etiquette, visit the King Thombs, the Buddhist Temple, visit around the  artist city, learn to make Kimchi (my fav) .. and more.

I like this spot the most. (The right side of the wall is modern city and the left side is ancient architect) Only if I was wearing in Korean ancient hanbok, I might be penetrate myself as way back to many decade ago.

After using Archery, we rode on this beautiful red trolley to

visit the whole Hwaseong Fortress.

The journey~

To tell you the truth, maybe for this trip, I was the one who always smiling since I always want to experience such tour for ages and now I did it. ^^ Have I mentioned already? Since I live in Korea for almost 1 year, I carry out many plans (travel plan, I guess), adding more to do lists and checked it. Lately I’ve been wanting to do 5 things.
1~ Wearing Hanbok (Korean Traditional Cloth)
Reason: Love adorable, especially wear with many people
2~ Using Korean Traditional Archery
Reason: For ages, I want to give myself a try! Because of the green field or Jumong Drama?
3~ Visit Kimchi Storing Place
Reason: I live the view, especially in winter since when I saw “Haru” CF. Very romantic!
4~ Learn to make Kimchi
Reason: You came to the land of Kimchi, and don’t go back without knowing how to make Kimchi!
5~ Drink Magoli (Korean rice wine)
Reason: Strange Feeling! Out of a sudden want to drink it~ lolzz
Now everything checked!!! Yohooo!!! ^___________^

Khmer Session for Korean Volunteer Students

Several weeks ago, we been helping some Korean Students who will go to do there volunteer work in Cambodia. They are very curious about Cambodia and are eagerly to see and spending some fun time with Cambodian kids. Many enjoying program are being prepared now. ^^ Oh.. and here is the story.

My Korean brother has volunteered in Cambodia for around 1 year, therefore he still knows some basic communication. Since there is the new group of students who will go to volunteer more, the organizer opened a session regarding Cambodia and have each students presenting separately about Cambodia. So my brother will helping them to learn how to speak Khmer and it will be even more effective if there are native Cambodian help the event. So me and my friends offered a help by joining this session and teach them some basic. It was a very interesting experience. ^^

At first we were so panic once seeing they are older than us, but most of them are really friendly that we no longer feel afraid. After the presentation we together went to enjoy dinner and back to class to have a final discussion and photo shooting. The final discussion is the most interest part of all because I and my friends really really want to interact closer to those beautiful and handsome Korean students, hehehe.. .and then here we’ve got the chance.  There are 3 Cambodian, so we divided into 3 group with 10 Korean students each. I’m really thankful to my little Korean language knowledge that I no longer need to use much English this time and enjoyed very well with them.

There are English teaching group and art group, they are gonna teach Cambodian kids to get more knowledge about this two theme via playing game. Therefore, before they play what kind of game with a kid they need to know if it suitable or not since its culture differences, some games might not be effective. and I was very happy that I can offer a great help. Ah.. and the most funny part is they asked us to give their new Cambodian name. To our surprised, these 3 Cambodian girls can’t find anything more better than their beautiful friends name and the most popular singers or people in Cambodia. Yeah.. they really enjoy it so much. But I’m so sorry as well for those who doesn’t like their name, but come on!  We dont have much time to give a meaningful name to 10 people in just a second like this. Sorry!

The communication went very well and we became friends even after the session. This is how life carry us.

마음이 열다 보면 생활을 익숙할 거예요.^^

Ah.. there also a memorable thing for me, it was when we all finished and saying good bye to each other, I walked to the door before my friend and unfortunately she stepped on my shoes, and it teared apart. Everyone so worried how I can go home with one part of shoes, but they helped me with a taped so I can use the broken shoes for a while. It’s such an embarrassing and funny moment that they can’t help it not to take picture of that.  My dear shoes!! ㅠㅠ

Hyundai Global Friendship Tour 2011

Last week, my GSIS department recommend us to join the field trip organized by Hyundai co.  This trip is arranged for the main purpose to help foreign students in Korea to understand more of Korean culture and Korean industry. This year 1,920 of international students involved in regular university degrees are welcomed to join the program. With approximately around 40 students per university. They support everything for the trip including travel insurance and souvenirs, which made the trip even more awesome! I was totally enjoyed!!

At the cultural village, our friendly tour guide show us around, the view of the cultural village. It was a rainy morning, so I can hardly take the beautiful picture at all cos need to carry both the umbrella and stuffs. However, we can’t blame the rain for that because I feel like the nature seems to be very happy with the rain. ^^

The tour management team provided us the raincoat which we transformed into doctor.lolz! Even it’s rain, we still can enjoy the activities that organized for us, like making rice cake, corn cake, visit the village, and attending Korean traditional wedding (which our couple friends transformed into).

My friends, look how happy they are, might be because the meal so delicious.

After lunch, we watched the Korean performance. Traditional songs and music. The singer also asked her to sing along, which made the atmosphere a lot happier. Then, we ended up taking picture, but poor me again, the picture was not really good.. :((…

Then we continue our tour to Hyundai co. to see how the production work. I was really impressed to see the factory for the first time of my life. The machine is everywhere and I rarely see the worker. just 1 here and 1 there in the whole factory. We walk all the way through the corridor to see the process, since the baby car is just a plain steel till the handsome one. Sadly, inside the factory it is prohibited about taking picture, so….After everything set, we also received some gift back home. For the girls backpack and pink hat. For the guys, wallet and blue hat. It was really a great experience ever!!

Saturday Outing ~ Samkyobsal

Since our dormitory doesn’t provide Saturday dinner, we always hang out with the main purpose to eat some meat. Of course, usually, there is not many delicious food with plenty of meat provided. We like the best, Samkyobsal (grilled pork). Normally, we eat them at the buffet restaurant as it’s cheap and we can as much as we want, but now we just find a very good place that the meat also tasty and even if it’s not buffet, but we can still be fulled with it. I can say, the meat there taste real great!!

Sunday Lunch ~ Cambodian & Vietnamese Food

Who say we can’t make a good cook without the official kitchen? My sister technique, just this little microwave is enough.

The Ginger Chicken was ready first, while waiting for other dish to be done, I keep asking them “When we ready to eat?” I really can’t wait!! The smell is damn gooooooooooooood!!

Korean Level 3 : Field Trip

YahoooooooOOO!!! That’s what we (level 3 students) felt after a very hard time during Mid-term exam. Each term, we have study “Field trip”, different class have different field trip, even if our school doesn’t provide such amazing one such as: go to Lotte World, go to Nami Island, …etc like other school, but we still feel better, better because the first reason “NO CLASS” of course! Second reason might be “SPRING FEVER” lolz.  Flowers are everywhere! Can’t help  not to feel for an outing or a picnic while beautiful flowers blossoming all around you.

So there my class went to a place near Insadong, for making bracelet. It kinda hard at first, but our instructor so kind-hearted that we manage to make the very beautiful one. Ya..for mine kinda colorful *Rainbow like one^^. Then, we finish by walking around the ancient house area and took picture here and there before saying Goodbye. However, for me and my friends, we had another plan***

After Easter Holiday

Last week was Easter Vacation, so we kinda have 4 days off from school. Some friends they really had a great time during this time. Here are what my classmate activities:

+Some who miss their family or loved one so badly, went to their homeland while adding extra day.

+Some who always wish to have more time to sightseeing in Seoul, also used the advantage of this opportunity with their friends.

+Some who have had appointment to go shopping with friends also did it even if they caught a cold already.

+Some went to birthday parties (I wonder how can they handle 2birthday parties for 2day with 6hours drinking??)

+Some (include me) used this opportunity to rest…rest more than normally, you know what I mean right? Yeah.. 12 hours of sleep for 4days. lolz

+Specially, my teacher who went to visit Shanghai while brought back such delicious snack for us, while showing off to our Shanghai born students. hehehe! Yummy!

+While, some who have shortage of stay in Korea, went to visit the most-wished-to-go , Jejo island. (My dream too).

For those reason explained above, you don’t need to wonder why I wrote my blog on Tuesday instead of Monday as most of my classmate weren’t  still recover of Holiday sickness. lolz. At the same time, lucky for our mouth that we can eat some delicious Chocolate from Jeju~~

Level 2 Classmate @Sogang KLEC

January 25, is my Auntie (Carolyn ssi)’s birthday. Then, we have a chance to, of course, play around for half an hour of our study time. Yahoo!!! My friend, Lora, she’s got her a cute brownie birthday cake, meanwhile, my Ajossi (Sam ssi, from other class), he also brought a nice looking yummy cake too. Then, our teacher come with a bunch of cake called “Pikacho” or something, I’m not remember, sorry. Yeah..So we all waited..glancing time -to-time whether our main princess come to class already. 1.35pm already, when we about to start class, our princess appeared. ^^ Very beautiful!!

Then the party began~~~~

My level 2 classmate are cute, Am I right? ^^

When the cake were all cut and shared to everyone, without any more hesitation, our teacher start a new lesson. Today, we study about the form ㄴ/은/는 데 with mean “….but….” That answer why we ended up to the funny activities in the picture below. Which we are supposed to be appear in our childhood photo, played some sport. Then, we were set up in pair and make conversation about the picture and childhood life. The study atmosphere turn out to be so interesting. However, since I’m still addicted to the photo shooting since the birthday’s party, I can’t let this moment go, by taking pic here and there of my classmate with their funny photo. ^^

My friend are acting they are in their 10 years old photo.
